Pantone just recently released the 2021 colors of the year, and we couldn't be happier with what they picked- Ultimate Gray and Illuminating. After the long stressful year of 2020, we are all in need of a bright and uplifting color palate. There's no better way to use the colors of the year than in your summer flowers, and we are already looking forward to planting in a few months!
We have separated our list into thrillers, spillers, and fillers so that you can plan your arrangement in the most effective and stunning way.
Thrillers are the tall, dramatic plant that stars in the center or back of the pot. Canna lilies are one of our absolute favorite thrillers, because they can grow to almost three feet in height by the end of the summer, and they produce constant blooms until frost. Spillers are trailing plants that cascade over the sides of the container. These can add a fun, unique touch to your planter. Some of our favorite spillers are million bells, verbena, and silver falls. The mounding, rounded plants that fill in the remaining space in the pot are the fillers. Many different types of plants can serve as an adequate filler, but petunias and geraniums are among our favorites.
Here are some of our top grey and yellow flower picks:
